About
Hi – I’m Chris Mackler, a photographer, photo editor, designer and second half of MacklerMedia, a wedding and portrait photography company based in Columbus, Ohio. Most recently I served in the White House Photo Office as Vice President Biden’s Official Photo Editor and Archivist.
As Vice President Biden’s Official Photo Editor, I had a front row seat to history for the past five years. I have captioned and pored over hundreds of thousands of images documenting visits to over 46 states and 44 countries, including trips to Afghanistan, Iraq and Ukraine. I have contributed to the visual voice of the Vice President and the administration, scheduling photo releases and contributing to social media posts in a timely manner. As the Vice President’s Photo Editor, I researched requests and distributed images to staff members, the press and the public. In perhaps the most rewarding aspect, I have distributed countless handshake photos to everyday Americans who have met with the Vice President. While routine, I know these photos will be keepsakes for a lifetime.
Before coming to the White House, I ran a freelance photography business in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, specializing in photojournalism. I have worked for newspapers in Missouri, Iowa, Indiana and Ohio. I graduated from Ohio University with a BS in Visual Communication in 2008. I live with my wife, Kristin (who is also a photographer) and rescue cat Brownie in our small Columbus apartment.
